True Fans
An email from a friend tells me St. Louis Rams fans are spoiled and they are. Let me make it clear I'm talking about the bandwagon, fair weather fans that make an already difficult situation even more heartbreaking to deal with.
True fans know the real facts behind this dismal start in one word...injuries. Sure, we question coaching, play calling, and why so many bad things are happening to what we were led to believe was a much improved Rams team.
High expectations by human nature brings out that Jekyll and Hyde mentality when those expectations are not met. Many fans are selfish and stupid when it comes down to winning and losing. Have a winner like we had in the past and the entire Rams organization has just found the solution to world peace. Have what's happening right before our very eyes and suddenly we have folks running for the exits like a bomb scare at Wal Mart on black Friday.
What a sad exhibition of adult behavior over a game, and a team that is stellar with history, pride and so many accomplishments. Just because it's not happening today doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. 1999 proved that and who knows what is next?
True fans have been here before and none of us have a crystal ball. True fans stick with their team no matter what. True fans bitch and moan most of the time about things that are out of our control. True fans know in their hearts that even a blind hog finds the apple once in a while. True fans suck it up and keep believing it will get better. True fans know we are losing with a team that reminds us of the movie, "The Replacements" and there were many positive results from the Cardinals game that answered the heart and drive of this team's issues concerning the "put a fork in them". True fans know the heart is still there and we stand behind our team win or lose.
Pride lasts a lifetime...pain is temporary.
