Injuries DO happen and no player is immune or exempt from the injury bug hitting them and when it does happen the team needs someone that can step in immediately and pick up where that injured player left off. This is essental especially on offense when positions are so individually defined.
This is one of the biggest reasons why I believe that the Rams need to seriously pursue Kevin Curtis in keeping him with the Rams. Some say that the loss of Curtis would be no big deal, but with the fact that the Rams are showing absolutely no interest in retaining the services of Shaun McDonald, it would be a big deal losing Curtis. Not only would you be losing one wide receiver that knows the offense, but it would be two.
This then would leave the Rams with the dilema of being very weak at wide receiver position for the first time in many seasons and would force them to either draft one or two receivers or draft one along with trying to find a free agent receiver, and the pool of available quality receivers is very thin this season, with Curtis probably being at the top of that list. This then would leave the Rams probably struggling at receiver should they have to rely on rookies as backups.
Should Bruce or Holt go down, not only would you have an experienced receiver that knew the offense, but you would have one that really can wreck havoc on opposing defenses. One with toughness and illusive speed to make things happen in the open field. But without Curtis you would be left the "unknown" taking over a spot for a premier receiver.
It would be an utter shame to lose Curtis and leave the Rams offense vulnerable, especially when it's their offense that is just about the only sure fire thing the Rams can rely upon week after week.
GO RAMS!!!
