Goodbye and Good Riddance

Goodbye and good riddance to the 2007 season! And don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out! Never, and I mean NEVER, have I ever been so glad to see a season end!

During the 90's when all of us Rams fans were suffering the agony of one of the most hearting breaking decades any of us ever experienced, we always hoped and knew that eventually we would rise from the ashes of that decade and find ourselves no longer the laughing stock of the NFL. And it happened. Once again we were able to hold our heads up high.

But that feeling of pride was completely wiped away in just one single season. One single season and everything the Rams worked so hard for, just erased in one utterly dismal and unbelievable horrendous season.

John Shaw might want to take time out and continually say it's not fair to judge Linehan on this season because the injuries were beyond belief. And although this might be true...you can only use the injury bug as an excuse for so long. Yes, we did have the most injuries in one season, more than any other team in NFL history....but is that an excuse for lame coaching? Is that an excuse for the fill ins to not step up and do their very best to try and hold the team together throughout such a tremendous influx of injuries?!

With an 8-8 2006 season prior in his first year, we all said "Give the guy a break, it's just his rookie year as head coach." But to have such a stable of offensive power on your team and not nearly as many injuries in 2006, it makes you wonder how is it that Linehan couldn't figure out just how to use his talent wisely? Fast forward to 2007 and you've got the same offensive power and supposedly even more beefed up with McMichael and Bennett and what do you get? A 3-13 season is what you get! Injuries....hmmm did Linehan put his brain on IR along with the rest of the team's IR list? I don't know about you Mr. Shaw, but I'm taking a look at the combination of 2006 and 2007 and I'm seeing a coach that is in way over his head! And no amount of talent you manage to wrangle in and put on this team is going to help one iota, not unless Linehan is either gone, or he takes a good long look at himself during the off season, is honest with himself, and figures out what's wrong with his style and fixes it. Because without that happening Mr. Shaw you won't be hearing your name being booed, you won't be hearing anything....the fans in St. Louis simply won't be at the Ed to even give you the time of day.

This one single season has made the decade of the 90's seem like a walk in the park. At least then, we were use to it. But to see such hope and promise completely extinquished in one single season is more agonizing than anything we experienced over a decade ago.

Go Rams!
