Goodbye Reverand Ike!

We all have mixed emotions at the news Isaac Bruce has signed with the hated 49ers. Such a classy individual who has meant so much on and off the field for the Rams organization is a big loss.

The winning play in Super Bowl 34 has a permanent track in my brain, and its been replaying since I heard the news.

An argument could be well made that the Rams should have seen to it that Isaac stayed no matter what it cost. It is possible that at least part of the reason he’s gone is self preservation on Scott Linehan’s part to leave no stone or room under the salary cap unturned in order to free up possibilities for free agents to come in to the organization.

I think its more likely Bruce remains a Ram if we didn’t have that atrocious season just passed.

Call me on looking through rose-colored glasses, but somehow I’d be more upset on this move if Billy Devaney hadn’t been hired. Some folks are already laying this move at Jay Zygmunt’s feet, but I’m not. I think it’s a brutally tough decision that had to be part of the process to get this disaster back on the tracks.

One thing for sure, Drew Bennett better have have them spikes on and be ready to hunker down next season. Here’s hoping we’re about to start hearing about some key free agent linemen making their way to Rams Park!

Go Rams!
