Life's Not Fair

If You’re Going Under the Knife...
Might as well cut out all of the cancer.
There are certain things that must be done after a team goes 5-27 in its last 32 games, and there are much less options
on the board after each new digit goes up in the loss column. But after 10 consecutive changes on the "L" side, the only
thing left to do is scrap the project and start over.
Unfortunately for Jim Haslett, he is going to be the one with the dynamite taped to his back-side. And that works out
more than conveniently for the demolition crew at Rams Park, because the players that follow him so closely will once
again set themselves up to get blown out of the water, but this time in high-style and with a certain finality.
Talk about creating a spark.
Sorry bout that Jim, but life's not fair.
Maybe it's true that the majority of Rams players love Jim Haslett – I don't doubt that. I also don't doubt the fact that
the Rams do seem to try very hard to win on game day. I bet they practice real hard just like he says they do. But not
winning is a bad disease; it's just bad – period, and no amount of undefeated practices are going to amount to anything
more than suspect male bonding sessions that have to go away, and go away completely.
It's a shame too, because I don't think there could be anything better than this team with about four more wins and a full
head of steam into the off-season to re-tool with the one who knows them best and motivates them best. But the team didn't
win and all that man-love now seems little more than creepy and the urgency to get that staff out of the building more
resembles the urgency of the first 48 hours of a homicide investigation.
For the first time in years though, I think Rams Inc. finally has a clue to get started. And call me ye of blind faith,
but I think Billy Devaney will lead us to the Promised Land once again.
As much as I like Jim Haslett and all his spirit and fire, he and little Ricky have to go every bit as much as Scott Linehan
and Zyggy did. I think he will land on his feet and do well somewhere else.
Unfortunately, he would probably be a great fit with Mike Singletary’s defensive minded plans.
Wouldn’t that be fitting?
Go Rams!
