Rookies At Bush Stadium

Since there is not much happening in Rams Nation making the writing well run dry. And with that little bit
of a writing dry spell, I thought I'd post this little fun tidbit from Stlouisrams.com. Enjoy!
Rams first-round draft pick Jason Smith may call the football field home, but on Friday night Smith proved he
knows his way around the baseball field as well. As part of a pre-season outing, Smith, along with the six
other 2009 Rams draft picks, headed downtown for a night of Cardinal baseball. With a stadium full of St.
Louis sports fans, the Cardinals helped introduce the newest faces of the Rams: Jason Smith, James Laurinaitis,
Bradley Fletcher, Darrell Scott, Brooks Foster, Keith Null and Chris Ogbonnaya.
In addition to a tour of the clubhouse, dugout, VIP rooms, and a special invitation from Cardinals Manager
Tony LaRussa to watch batting practice while standing shoulder to shoulder with the Cardinals players,
Rams rookies also had a surprise visit from one of St. Louis' greatest sports figures, Ozzie Smith.
Before the rookies could take their seats to enjoy the game, the Cardinals wanted to make sure Smith was
ready for the St. Louis sports' spotlight and to help him prepare, gave him the honor of throwing out the
first pitch. As fellow rookies tried to guess whether Smith's throw from the pitcher's mound would be wide,
short or possibly a strike, Smith surprised them all with a look to first and then a short jog to home plate
before gently tossing the ball into Cardinals reliever Jason Motte's glove. Smith proved his personality is
as big as his 6'5, 310 lb. frame, and gave everyone a laugh.
