Jim Hayes aka Geezer Ram
Staff Writer
I became a Rams fan in 1970 , while stationed in Long Beach California. A cousin had also been stationed in California during military service, settled there, and he got me interested in the Rams when I arrived there about 5 years later.
I had followed Johnny Unitas and the Colts previously from the time of 'the game' OT win against the Giants in the late 50's until I started following the Rams. Was hard switching 'allegiance' at first, but I really jumped into it after George Allen left for DC, Carrol Rosenbloom came to the Rams, and Johnny U retired. Have followed them since that time.
Was able to get to the Coliseum for a preseason game against Cleveland through some USO tickets around 1970, but for the most part, Ram tickets were very hard to come by then.
I returned to my Midwestern roots in late 1974 and tried to keep tabs on them long distance minus the internet until they moved to St Louis.
I have made day trips to Macomb each year they had training camp there, and have gone to 1 game a year since 1996.
GO RAMS !!!
